Welcome to my Joy of Connecting website! I am very excited to be the 2nd licensee in Illinois and the first one in Lake County.
I have spent the last 17 years as an educator and administrator at the high school level. Between supervising staff, counseling young students who have made poor choices, and working with parents to make better choices, I developed strong leadership and team building skills. Due to budget cuts in 2009, administrative positions were eliminated and mine was no exception.
In looking for another position, I found an ad for a consultant for Rodan & Fields Dermatologists, the creators of Proactiv®. Once I had all the information, it was an easy decision. Rodan & Fields is a ground floor opportunity with potential that we cannot even imagine yet. The products are absolutely amazing and through attending local R & F events, I was meeting the most incredible people. I found networking to become almost addicting. I was home during the day and could not wait to attend another event to see these great women I was meeting. But, at the same time, they knew as much as I did about Rodan & Fields. I could not share my story with them and they were not giving me any referrals. But I enjoyed the relationships I was creating.
I still needed to grow my business. As I researched networking on the internet, I came across a taped radio broadcast from an expert in networking. I decided to listen to it and take notes. It was an inspirational radio show for me. Listening to someone speak about supporting others, handwriting notes for a follow up, giving compliments, making others feel good about themselves, being thoughtful and reliable, I felt as though she were speaking directly about me and my values. She then closed the show discussing her business, The Joy of Connecting. Yes, the expert was Bonnie! I went to the website and filled out an application to be a licensee! I knew that this was what I was looking for!
I grew up in Lake County and adore all it has to offer. I met my husband while I was still in high school. I did attend Illinois State University and studied Business Education. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1992. I also attended Concordia University studying Educational Leadership and earned a Masters degree in 1999. At present, we have been married for almost 17 years and have 2 children. I am a board member of Antioch AYSO Soccer and am a member of National Association of Professional Women. I am an active volunteer at St. Patrick’s School in Wadsworth. I enjoy reading, writing, movies, word searches, board games and puzzles. And, above all else, I love helping others find that true passion that lives inside each and every one of us. I look forward to supporting many professional women through JOC meetings!
