Hi! My name is Carolyn B. McCollum. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio with four sisters. I graduated from Elmhurst College in Illinois and Boston University Law School in Massachusetts.
While in law school, I became a Flight Attendant for Trans World Airlines (TWA), as a summer job. I continued my career as a Flight Attendant for 28 years while I also pursued my career as an Attorney. During this time I also became an independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc.
I practiced law with my father, Rathuel L. McCollum for five years in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Washington, DC in 1982. In Washington, I worked at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as a law clerk to two Administrative Law Judges and as a staff attorney in the Office of the General Counsel for 19 years. I was also the Associate General Counsel for the Epilepsy Foundation of America (EFA) for a brief period. I took an “early out” from the NLRB in November, 2004.
I am currently an Independent Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Inc. My goal is to become a Mary Kay National Sales Director and to open my own law practice in the near future. My passions include empowering people, swimming, world travel and staying fit and healthy.
I met Bonnie Ross-Parker at the Mary Kay Director’s Conference in Atlanta in January, 2006. We had a wonderful connection and I immediately envisioned how The Joy of Connecting concept could work with my Mary Kay business. I was so impressed by the concept that I came back to Atlanta at the end of January to take my twin sister (a Certified Public Accountant and recent transplant to Atlanta), to Bonnie’s event. I was delighted to be a part of the event and decided then that The Joy of Connecting should be spread to my part of the country.
I am excited to be introducing The Joy of Connecting to the Washington, DC metropolitan area starting in September, 2006.
